Tantric Vinyasa Yoga Retreat

w/ Jim Bennitt
Feb 13 – 20, 2016

We invite you to experience Prana del Mar, a beautiful oceanfront yoga retreat & wellness center located at the southern tip of Baja, Mexico. Spend the day walking barefoot on miles of stunning beaches, practicing yoga in our beautiful studios, catching waves at one of the nearby surf breaks, riding horseback along the coast, paddling and snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez, or lounging in the swimming pool. Renew and refresh with a deep, healing massage, a restorative aromatherapy treatment, a soak in the hot tub, or a nap in a hammock. Watch the sun sink into the Pacific as you dine on fresh, delicious – often organic – Mexican and international cuisine, sip the best margaritas of your life, laugh with friends new and old, and then admire the star-filled sky as you wander the path back to your suite to sink into a plush pillow-top bed, lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.

Due to popular demand, we will be returning to Prana del Mar in Baja, Mexico, just north of Cabo San Lucas. This beautiful retreat center is intimate, secluded, and only has 16 rooms so put your deposit down today to save your spot. Last year’s retreat was filled to capacity and we are expecting the same in 2016.

Prana del Mar – where the mountains and the desert meet the sea.

There are two different rooms types:
Upstairs Level Rooms: 2 Queen Beds with a living and dining area, private balcony plus private bath
Ground Level Rooms with King Bed, additional seating area, patio and en suite bath.

There are only 8 rooms of each type. This retreat experience will be like no other retreat we have planned. Some even say it is “”fancy”” but hey, we all know Jim’s a little fancy himself 🙂

The two options in room types will be booked on a first come first serve basis:

Pricing
Double-occupancy: $1,625 USD per person
Single-occupancy: $2,015 USD per person

This yoga retreat includes:

  • 7-nights deluxe accommodations
  • 3 gourmet vegetarian meals each day (plus fish/seafood options available several times during the week as well as gluten-free and dairy-free diets if requested)

Jim’s Practice “”Tantric Vinyasa””:
The Sanskrit word vinyasa (Sanskrit) stems from the root word nyasa which means “”to place”” and the prefix vi which in this case means “”in a special way.”” This could refer to placing your arm in a special way while in triangle pose, or it could mean placing a sequence of postures in a special way to reach a desired result. For example, a desired result could be a sequence to help improve digestion, relieve back pain, or reduce chronic fatigue.

The word tantra (tantric is an adjective which describes something coming from tantra) is made up of two words: tanoti and trayati. Tanoti means “”to expand, to stretch, to extend””, while trayatimeans “”to liberate or free””. Therefore, Tantra (tan+tra) means to expand one’s experience and awareness of everything, to extend the frontiers of apprehension beyond the material, and hence to attain spiritual knowledge and liberation. Another definition of Tantra is “”to weave.””

Wow! That’s some serious stuff. How do we do that? The main difference you’ll notice in a Tantric Vinyasa class is that they include something called adhikara. Simply put, adhikara means “”progression”” and “”a sensitivity to the subtle realms.”” There will be some guidance on alignment as well as a smooth pace to the class to build heat, improve flexibility, and increase strength. The beauty of this practice, however, is that it won’t stop with just the body.

Through “”weaving”” in certain breathing and meditation techniques “”in a special way,”” we will build this “”sensitivity to the more subtle forces”” – which is called prana or the vital life force. The ancient yogis believed through learning to control the prana, you also learn to control the mind. You will leave a Tantric Vinyasa class feeling like you’ve cultivated vital life force and also a clear mind.

Come join us for this special yoga retreat and experience it first-hand!
