Restore, Renew & Play Retreat

A Yoga & Meditation Retreat
w/ Dr. Rachel Allyn & Tom Glaser
Baja, Mexico
Jan 25 – Feb 1, 2020

I get it.

There are some legit excuses (and some kinda lame) to not go on a retreat.

But let me counter with one that will trump them all:

You deserve to feel amazing!

The best gift you can give yourself (and everyone around you, when you come back feeling sensational) is this weeklong chance to rest & reconnect with your body, the outdoors and your inner vitality — which includes reconnecting to play! This can be hard to come by with all the responsibilities of “adulting,” yet it’s essential to your wellbeing.

Join myself and Tom Glaser on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico for a week of rejuvenating & mindful movement, delicious food, sunshine, introspection, community … and let’s not forget recreation, to bring more healthy play (which is really about balance) into your life.

We offer two classes per day (both yoga and meditation) and aside from that we don’t over-structure you. We DO give you all sorts of options to choose how you might want to spend your precious free time.

Here’s the scoop:

Location: Prana De Mar – this totally green, environmentally-friendly center is where the mountains and the desert meet the sea! Their beautiful beachfront retreat and wellness center is located on the Pacific Ocean, with the Sea of Cortez just a short drive away. The serene surroundings give you an escape from all the noise of urban living (although Cabo San Lucas is 30 minutes away and Todos Santos 40 minutes away if you want to explore the town). Their focus is on creating an environment where people join with others to deepen their yoga and meditation practices, create space and stillness in their minds and in their lives, and participate authentically in their own self-discovery. (All while having the best margarita of your life!)

Yep, I’ve stepped it up a notch in luxury on this retreat

Dr. Rachel Allyn
I’ve been in the field of psychology for over 18 years, providing services to diverse clientele in a broad range of settings throughout the United States. Raised in Minnesota, I received an undergraduate degree from Williams College in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. Then I promptly did what any plucky graduate of a liberal arts school would do: parlayed my political science degree into work as a reporter for a San Francisco television station. Somehow, logic aside, this led me to graduate school in clinical psychology.

After getting a PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in San Francisco, I continued training at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis and received my doctorate in 2005. I spent years in the rocky mountain West focusing on psychotherapy, diagnostic testing, teaching as a professor, and becoming certified as a yoga instructor at the 500-hour level. Like many people I was drawn to yoga as a way to stretch tight muscles but continued because of the introspection and serenity it provided my busy mind.

My specialty areas include relationship & intimacy issues (including sex therapy), anxiety, depression, stress management, sleep difficulties, and trauma & loss. I blend Western and Eastern philosophy and integrate the mind and body, tailored to your specific needs. I have created a unique style of psychotherapy in which I blend-in something I call bodyfulness (like mindfulness, but more deliberately incorporating the body’s movements in dynamic ways). This is based on research that the body stores emotions and other experiences, which get stuck within unless we have a safe way to discharge them from the body. I help facilitate connection and release of these stuck emotions and behavioral patterns through yoga, breathing, meditation, chakras, the aerial silk and outdoor therapy – all methods that help develop “interoception” (nuanced body intelligence), and to help you feel more vitality and joy and in your body.

I also have a monthly wellness/relationship column in The Southwest Journal called Ask. Dr. Rachel. I invite you to send your questions/curiosities my way!

I greet my clients at the human level, free of judgment, with the goal of helping you connect to your wisdom, inner fire and magnetism. My ultimate message is for you to find your own path and purpose in this often challenging world. When not spreading this message, I divide my time between the trails, travels & the yoga mat (plus a little karaoke on occasion)!
