Desert & Sea Yoga Retreat

Los Cabos, Mexico
w/ Allison Mahaffy & Sarah Goble
May 14 – 20, 2018

Nestled between the mountains and the ocean of southern Baja, Prana del Mar exists. This off-grid retreat facility will be our home for six days and six nights of pure bliss, rejuvenation, and peace.

Our pace will be slow, our yoga practices dynamic and nurturing. Ambiance at Prana del Mar is tranquil, beautiful and inspired by the nature surrounding it. Most days will consist of a morning and afternoon practice, nourishing cuisine and ample free time. Spend your days walking the ocean beaches, lounging in the pool, napping in a hammock, or adventuring on a kayak or surfboard.

We will gather as a community for all our meals. Dinners will be unhurried, allowing us to share conversation and laughter while we drink margaritas and watch the sun fade into the Pacific. The star-filled skies will then make for breathtaking evenings on the rooftop deck, sitting in the hot tub or simply being. Alone. Quiet. Free of stress.

Allison Mahaffy
Yoga is damn fun! This is my passion. It is infectious and I love to share it with others! The movement, music, breath and focus gets me jazzed! Yet, my mind stays focused; my pace—relaxed. I am so present when I teach, there is no room for much else, except to revel in watching others find their own love of yoga.

I am here for my community, for my students. I instruct with power. I lead with purpose and clarity. My classes are focused. My classes flow. My goal as an instructor is to guide my students into their body, mind, and heart—skillfully, thoughtfully, and lovingly—giving my students a chance to create a healthy way of being. And we have a lot of fun in the process too!

We move and build strength while simultaneously finding ease in the body. Each class is different, offering new perspectives on the practice with emphasis on physical and mental awareness. I offer a unique understanding and appreciation for the connection of body and spirit, an endeavor to help people find their connection to the spirituality and physicality through Vinyasa Yoga.

I have been told my classes are dynamic and fun, with a sense of safety through anatomical focus. I encourage my students to seek the experience, the autonomy, and the freedom to adjust according to their body. Honoring our body in this way opens a world of new possibilities and growth.

My daughters, Evelyn and Madelyn, bring me so much love and joy. Our dog, Cooper, keeps things lively! Tacos, wine and music are my guilty pleasures! And mountain time is oh so precious….

A beginning of life crisis led me to yoga and all the subsequent crises keep me coming back for more. Teaching and practicing yoga for me is all about staying sane and understanding the human condition. My classes are born out of my life experience and my study of the history, philosophy and science of yoga. In class, I keep it real, I sequence movements and music intentionally and I make the occasional joke too. I live to create a space where people can feel better mentally and physically.

I’m originally from the Midwest. I moved to the NW seven years ago. I worked with a large yoga company for the last 12 years opening yoga studios and training teachers. Sol yoga is my new yoga home and I am beyond grateful.

Outside of the yoga studio I am a voracious reader and podcast listener. I love to hike, run and hang out with my dog, Riley.
