Carolina Czechowksa
Carolina (Carro) wonders how far one can push the physical body while simultaneously achieving complete mental clarity, to become effective yet harmonious in all aspects of life. This constant duality, finding the balance between the two polarities in herself and others, is her life mission and constant joy.

Born and raised in Stockholm, Carro danced at the Royal Swedish Ballet School for nearly a decade. She received a scholarship and left for Boston Ballet School and later moved to San Francisco to join Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet apprentice program.

Despite her severe scoliosis as a child, she chose to not go through surgery to pursue her dance career and instead found alternative strengthening methods. At age eleven, she was one of the first people in Sweden practicing Gyrotonic, for at the time Pilates was still undiscovered in Scandinavia. Throughout the coming years, Carro had influences of Pilates in her daily dance practice, but the first time she came across the actual method was in Stockholm at Pilates Scandinavia. She was certified by Fredrik Fransson and Elisabet Davidsson in 2007.

With her knowledge in arts, sports, and healing refined and focused, and with a growing passion for Classical Pilates, Carro moved to New York City in 2008 to study at re:AB Pilates with Brooke Siler. Upon graduating she became a senior teacher and Program director of the re:AB Pilates certification.

Seeking a less hectic lifestyle, and feeling a strong connection to the city, Carro moved to San Francisco and taught at Dharmaspace Pilates, YogaWorks, ODC, Pilates Center of San Francisco and Keep it Classical (current). In 2016, Carro joined Bridging Consciousness, a business platform dedicated to helping high-achieving leaders create a burnout-free life, empowering participants to redefine how to live, love and lead from the heart.

In the Bay area, Carro has worked with many local choreographers, doing commercial work, and various video projects. Since 2011, Carro has have been a member of Garrett + Moulton Productions. This year she has been nominated for an “Izzie” (Isadora Duncan Dance award) for best individual performer of the year.

Carro grew up traveling the globe, and is always dreaming about them next escape! Yoga Pilates Adventures is Carro and Lauren’s mutual passions combined to direct students to a path of exploration, health and pure happiness.

Lauren Slater
Lauren began dancing at age 3 and has never stopped!

Born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. Lauren was blessed to travel with her parents yearly through the United States and Europe.

She trained with Janice Lee, The Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Kirov Academy in ballet. She discovered modern dance in high school under the tutelage of Carol Mead and Jean Isaacs, as well as a love of musical theater, drama and oration. She made her professional stage debut at the age of 6 years with the San Francisco Ballet’s Nutcracker.

At 17, she was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga with Tim Miller. After graduation from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Dance and Exercise Sciences, she became a founding member of San Francisco’s LEVYdance, performing and teaching internationally. In 2004, she completed her 200-hour RYT, began teaching Vinyasa and Restorative yoga with Yoga Tree SF, and studying in earnest with Arkady Shirin in Shadow Yoga. She was awarded her 500-hour Advanced Teaching certificate in 2007, and joined the staff of Yoga Tree’s 200- and 500-hour Teacher Training Programs.

In between that and dancing, Lauren developed a profound appreciation for the healing power of proper alignment and intentional mind/body training for a healthy, long life of movement. To complement this view, she completed her certification on Classical Pilates through the MAT program, lead by Dorothee VandeWale in 2015.

Lauren has been leading international yoga retreats since 2007, traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, Morocco, Italy, Canada and California. She is honored to work with Carolina in developing transformative retreats to share their loves of travel, movement and self discovery.
