Santosha Sadhana: Mexico

Yoga Retreat & Teacher Training
w/ Janet Stone
Baja, Mexico
November 20 – 26, 2016

Join Janet this Thanksgiving for a journey that is part deepening your practice and training, part retreat. Our home for the week is Prana Del Mar, an eco oceanside retreat in Cabo San Lucas.

Each morning will begin with sadhana (practice). After breakfast, we’ll spend three hours in training, exploring the 5 Elements and how they can inform our practice. Collaborative assignments for each will round out the training portion. Afternoons will provide ample free time for rest, community, and excursions.

Throughout, we’ll explore santosha (contentment). Santosha could be called gratitude’s quieter sister, so in the time of giving thanks, we’ll pause to allow the deep well of contentment to replenish.

Training Details
This 50-hour Yoga Alliance certified immersion into the 5 Elements offers a profound introduction to the material and energetic forces that make up our world, our bodies, and our practice of living yoga. In this gorgeous setting, we’ll study how to balance and harness the energies of these fundamental building blocks of all life. We’ll explore the philosophy of the 5 Elements and steep ourselves in asana and pranayama practice, in order to unite body, mind, and spirit into a vibrant whole.

Prana Del Mar will provide the perfect setting to immerse into these elements, situated as it is where water meets earth and sky.

  • Earth | Prithvi: The earth element is a solid state of matter; she rests in stability.
  • Water | Apas: Water is change. We ourselves are a dynamic form of water and are surrounded by it.
  • Fire | Agni: When we step onto the yoga path we step into tapas, the fire of practice. The principles of fire in the universe are called agni in Sanskrit, meaning “”the transforming force.””
  • Air | Vayu: The air element is the life force that expresses itself from the moment of birth to death in our inhale and exhale.
  • Ether | Akasha: All elements come from ether, unending and boundless space.

The training portion can be used for 50 hours of Yoga Alliance approved hours, good toward Janet’s 300/500 hour training program or continuing education hours. Follow-up homework will be included.

Janet Stone
Janet studentship began at 17 under the meditation teachings of Prem Rawat. His reverence for simplicity and finding joy in the rise and fall of life live on in her practice and teaching today.

In 1996, she traveled to India, the birthplace of her grandfather, and became dedicated to the path of yoga. Janet blends the alchemy of her own practice with decades of studentship. She aspires not to teach but to allow the practice to emanate from her, letting awareness blend with movement and breath. Based in Bali and San Francisco, she leads immersions, retreats, workshops, and more.”
